blog neglect

Wow, it’s been almost a year since we have posted anything on our blog!  Things like blogging and maintaining our website have just gotten away from me in the midst of remodeling a house and preparing for child number 4.  Feel free to keep up with the blog as I have every intention of paying it more attention.

Here are some shots from a recent pregnancy session.  Don’t do very many of these, but this was a fun one.

The Evans Family

Back in 2006, the Evans family became one of our first official clients.  At that time, Olivia was just one.  Today, she’s 4 and we still enjoy getting the opportunity to photograph her and her parent.  Here are some shots from our latest session with the Evans family.

The Miles’ Girls

So…this is my chance to show off my nieces a bit.  We had some fun yesterday taking some pics.  Graci (she’s 6) was very cooperative.  Her loose tooth wasn’t as cooperative.  It just kind of dangled there waiting to just fall out.  Laney (she’s 1) was less cooperative than Graci’s tooth.  Nevertheless, we had fun.  Laney’s a big ham and Graci was the model.  Here are a handfull from the session.  Enjoy!

Brannon 9 months

On father’s day (in 90 degree heat) we had a session with Brannon for his 9 month pictures.  I will say, we were worried it was going to be too hot for the little guy, but he did great!  It’s been neat to watch Brannon grow up.  This is our 3rd photo session with him. Here are some pictures from our session.

Brittany & Terry Wedding

I have to apologize….I’ve been bad about blogging lately.  We just ended our crazy string of weddings with 6 in 8 weeks.  I still have some to edit, but I wanted to show this one off a bit.

Brittany & Terry got married on May 30 at St. Boniface in Evansville.  The church is a photographers dream.  It is beautiful inside and the huge windows allowed so much light in.  I’ve never been able do so much without artificial light inside at a wedding.

I have to admit, I was pretty nervous about this wedding because I work with Brittany & her dad everyday.  I’ve learned that it’s good to get nervous sometimes though, it makes you think about things a lot more carefully.

Everything went great and we had a lot of fun.  Here are some of the shots.  Enjoy!

It’s always fun to hang out with Chloe!  Chloe is 6 years old now and the day we shot these photos was her 5 year “gotcha” anniversary.

3 different sessions

Things have been crazy and we’ve been really bad at keeping up with the blog! May & June are the busiest months of the year for us, by far.  With wedding season in full swing, I didn’t want to neglect the other sessions we’ve had over the past few weeks.  Here are pictures from 3 different sessions.

Watch for upcoming wedding posts!

First wedding of the season

April kicked off our 2009 wedding season. Since we choose not to take very many weddings over the course of a year, most of our weddings end up in the April-July time frame.

When we met Crystal & Nick, we knew we would hit it off (especially when I noticed his Chaco sandals & Patagonia fleece). The more we planned for the day, the more we realized it could be a rather long one. When we book a wedding, we book the day. You don’t just get 6 hours and then get charged per hour beyond that, you get the day, however long or short. Anyway, it turned out to be a 12 hour day but we all had a lot of fun.

Crystal and Nick live in Indianapolis but chose to get married at St. Joseph’s in Evansville because it is where she grew up and the church is where her mother and father married. The day started at 9:00am at the hair salon with the girls, then to the hotel with Nick, then to the church. Crystal and Nick decided to see each other before the wedding so we could have plenty of time between the wedding and reception for some fun shots with them and the bridal party.  Any time a bride and Groom choose to see each other before the ceremony, we try our best to make there first moment special.  After there initial meeting and a few shots of just the two of them, we were able to get all the family shots knocked out before the ceremony. After the ceremony we had a good 3 hours before the reception. We drove all over Evansville’s downtown area to get a lot of shots and still allowed some time to just relax for a little while before the reception reach full swing.

We had a blast with this one, and we wish Crystal & Nick all the best.

Unique Senior Session

It’s always fun to do things a little bit different.  I was excited to take Ben’s senior pics because I knew we could try some unique things.  I love doing senior portraits with a twist.  Ben and I joked today about the classic senior pics like laying on the white backdrop with the big “09″ behind you.  Or leaning up against the tree.  Don’t get me wrong, those things are fine,  but I make it a goal to never be cliche.  So much so, that I try to do something different with each session.  Here are some shots from Ben’s session today.  Enjoy!

More Kids!

We had a lot of fun with the Hagerty & Kiesel kids. We’ve had several sessions with these kids over the past few years and they are always fun to photograph. The day was beautiful and the kids did great. This session was a good example of how we have to establish a relationship with the kids. Emily is one and the last time we took pictures of all the kids, she was only a few months old. Now that she’s one, we wanted to get several of her by herself but she needed to warm up to me first. At one point, I just put the camera down and spent some time playing with her. One is a fun age because the expressions are purely authentic.
